Christ in Joel

Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Joel 3:16

"The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the heavens will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel."

Devotional

The image of God roaring from Zion is one of awesome power. His voice shakes creation — a reminder that He is sovereign over all. For those who oppose Him, it is a sound of judgment; but for His people, it is a declaration of safety.

“The LORD will be a refuge for His people.” In Jesus, this truth is magnified. He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. He is our stronghold, our refuge.

One day, His voice will once again shake heaven and earth, bringing all things to their rightful end. Until that day, we take refuge in Him, knowing that His power is for our protection.

Question to consider

Where do you need to take refuge in the Lord’s strength today?

Prayer

Lord, You are my refuge and my stronghold. Keep me safe in the shelter of Your love. Help me trust Your promises. Amen.
