Christ in 2 Kings

Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
2 Kings 6:16–17

“‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, ‘Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

Devotional

Elisha’s servant sees only danger: an enemy army surrounding the city. But Elisha sees a deeper reality — God’s protection is already in place. When the servant’s eyes are opened, he sees the heavenly armies ready to defend.

This story is a reminder that our perspective is often limited. We see the visible threat, but God is at work in the unseen realm. In Christ, we are assured that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Even when the enemy seems overwhelming, the truth remains: “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Question to consider

What fear in your life might change if you could see it from God’s perspective?

Prayer

Lord, open my eyes to see your presence and power. Remind me that I am never alone. Give me courage in the face of fear. Amen.
