“Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah… The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.”
David’s attempt to bring the ark to Jerusalem began with celebration but ended in tragedy when Uzzah touched the ark. It was a sobering reminder that God’s holiness is not to be taken lightly.
Yet, in the home of Obed-Edom, the presence of God brought blessing. God’s presence is both awe-inspiring and life-giving. When we approach Him rightly — with reverence and obedience — His nearness transforms our lives.
Through Jesus, the Holy One draws near to dwell with us. In Him, God’s presence is no longer a cause for fear but for joy, because He has made us holy by His blood.
How can you approach God’s presence with both reverence and joy today?
Lord, teach me to honour your holiness. Thank you that through Jesus I can draw near. Let your presence bring blessing to my life and those around me. Amen.
