Christ in 1 Chronicles

Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
1 Chronicles 29:11–12

“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honour come from you; you are the ruler of all things.”

Devotional

In David’s final public prayer, he declares that all greatness belongs to God. Everything comes from Him — wealth, honour, power, and glory. This perspective is the foundation of generous living. David goes on to give freely for the building of the temple, knowing that he is simply returning to God what already belongs to Him.

In Christ, we learn to hold everything with open hands. Our lives, resources, and opportunities are all for His kingdom and glory. True joy comes when we recognise that He is the rightful owner of all.

Question to consider

What is one area of your life you need to surrender afresh to God’s rule?

Prayer

Lord, everything I have comes from you. Help me to live with open hands and a willing heart. May my life bring glory to your name. Amen.
