"I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them. I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily."
Hosea’s prophecy ends not in judgment but in healing. God promises to cure His people’s waywardness and love them freely. This is the gospel in miniature — a love not earned, but given freely, because His anger is turned away.
The image of God as dew is beautiful. Dew comes gently, refreshing the land in the stillness of the morning. It is life-giving and sustaining, enabling growth and beauty. In Christ, God’s love refreshes our souls daily, enabling us to flourish.
Our hope rests in His initiative. He does not wait for us to fix ourselves before loving us. He heals, He refreshes, and He causes us to blossom.
Where do you need God’s gentle, refreshing love to renew you today?
Lord, thank You for loving me freely. Heal my wandering heart and make me whole. Refresh me so I may flourish in Your love. Amen.
