"But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!"
God rejects empty religion that sings loudly on Sunday but ignores injustice on Monday. Through Amos, He calls for justice and righteousness to flow like an unstoppable stream — constant, refreshing, life-giving.
Justice addresses the wrongs in society; righteousness reflects the holiness of God in personal and communal life. Together, they form a river that blesses all it touches.
In Christ, we see this river most clearly. His cross confronts the ultimate injustice of sin and secures the righteousness that is credited to us. Through the Spirit, that righteousness begins to flow out of us into a thirsty world.
What does it look like for justice and righteousness to flow from your life?
Lord, may my worship be matched by my walk. Let justice and righteousness flow through me. Make me a channel of Your mercy and truth. Amen.
