Christ in Hosea

Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Hosea 3:1–2

"The LORD said to me, ‘Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites…’"

Devotional

Hosea’s purchase of Gomer from slavery is a vivid image of redemption. He pays the price to bring her back, even though she has been unfaithful. This is not mere sentiment — it is costly, pursuing love.

The Lord uses this act to show His love for His people. We too have wandered, but Christ has paid the ultimate price — His own life — to redeem us. Redemption is not simply a transaction; it is a restoration of relationship, a bringing home of the beloved.

This kind of love changes us. Knowing we are bought at such a price inspires us to leave behind the chains that once bound us and to live in the freedom of being His.

Question to consider

How does remembering the price Jesus paid for you shape your love for Him?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for redeeming me at such great cost. Help me never to take Your love for granted. Lead me to live in the freedom You have won. Amen.
