Christ in Amos

Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Amos 5:14–15

"Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph."

Devotional

The people of Amos’ day claimed God’s presence, but their lives told a different story. God’s call is clear: to seek good, to hate evil, and to uphold justice. This is not optional; it is the evidence of a life truly aligned with Him.

Seeking good is active — it means pursuing what reflects God’s character. Hating evil is equally active — it means resisting what opposes His ways. Justice in the courts, fairness in our dealings, compassion toward the vulnerable — these are the marks of His people.

In Jesus, goodness and justice meet perfectly. He lived without compromise, confronting evil and extending mercy. As His followers, we are called to embody the same pattern.

Question to consider

What step could you take this week to actively seek good and oppose evil?

Prayer

Lord, align my heart with Yours. Help me love what You love and reject what You hate. Make my life a witness to Your goodness and justice. Amen.
