Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Devotional

This verse is one of the most cherished in all of Scripture, yet it must be read with care. Paul does not say all things are good. Suffering, sin, and tragedy are real and painful. But he declares that in all things, even the hardest, God is at work for good. Nothing is wasted in His hands.

The good here is not mere comfort or success but conformity to Christ. God weaves every thread, bright and dark, into the tapestry of His purpose, shaping us into the likeness of His Son. Our lives are not random; they are caught up in His sovereign plan.

This truth does not remove the sting of suffering, but it does anchor us in hope. Even when we cannot see how, we can trust that God is working. His wisdom is greater than our understanding, and His purpose is stronger than our pain. One day, the full picture will reveal His goodness beyond measure.

Question to consider

What situation in your life right now do you need to entrust to God, believing He is working for good?

Prayer

Sovereign God, thank you that in all things you are working for my good. Help me to trust you when I cannot see the way, and to rest in your unfailing purpose.
