Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Romans 8:31

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Devotional

After rehearsing God’s saving purpose, Paul bursts into praise. If God is for us, who can be against us? This is not a denial of opposition, Paul knew enemies well, but a declaration that no opposition can prevail against the God who stands with His people.

This truth reframes every fear. Threats may come, but they cannot overturn God’s plan. Suffering may strike, but it cannot undo His purpose. Death itself may loom, but it cannot separate us from His love. If the Almighty is for you, no enemy can ultimately defeat you.

To say “God is for us” is to rest in His covenant love, secured in Christ. It is to know that the Maker of heaven and earth has committed Himself to your good. In this confidence, we live not timidly but boldly, not fearful of the future but assured in His care.

Question to consider

What would change in your outlook if you truly lived each day confident that God is for you?

Prayer

Father, thank you that you are for me in Christ. Help me to live in bold confidence, trusting that no enemy can prevail against your purpose.
