Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Galatians 5:23

…gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Devotional

Gentleness is not weakness but strength under control. It is the Spirit’s power expressed with humility and care, reflecting Jesus who said, “I am gentle and humble in heart.” Gentleness disarms conflict and brings peace.

Self-control is the Spirit’s strength to master our desires instead of being mastered by them. It is the freedom to say “no” to the flesh and “yes” to God. The world often equates freedom with indulgence, but the Spirit shows that real freedom is found in restraint.

Together, gentleness and self-control form a beautiful balance. They show that Christ’s followers are not ruled by pride, anger, or appetite, but by the Spirit who produces a life that blesses others and honours God.

Question to consider

Where do you most need the Spirit’s gentleness and self-control in your life right now?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, make me gentle as you are gentle. By your Spirit, give me self-control so that I may walk in freedom and bring glory to you.
