Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Luke 4:1-2

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

Devotional

It’s striking that the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness — not into immediate ministry, but into testing. Before the miracles, the crowds, the teachings — there was silence. Solitude. Hunger. Temptation.

Threshold moments can feel like wilderness seasons. Empty. Exposed. Uncertain. But they are also holy. Formational. Full of Spirit-led preparation.

Jesus faced every kind of temptation we do — to perform, to prove, to grasp control. But He clung to the Word of God. And when the wilderness ended, He emerged in the power of the Spirit.

You are not forgotten in the desert. You are being formed. And the One who was tested in every way now walks beside you, filling you with His Spirit.

Question to consider

How might God be shaping your character in this wilderness space you’re walking through?

Prayer

Spirit of God, lead me even in the dry places. Let your Word strengthen me, and may I emerge shaped, refined, and ready for what’s next. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
