So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them.
Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing…
The Jordan was overflowing. It was harvest season, and the river was dangerous. But God said, “Step in.” Not when the waters recede. Not when the timing feels ideal. But now.
Threshold moments rarely come with perfect conditions. Sometimes God calls us to step forward before the water parts. That’s what faith looks like — not waiting for clarity, but walking in obedience.
Notice what went first: the ark. The symbol of God’s presence led the way. The priests stepped in, carrying the reminder that they were not alone.
When you stand on the edge of a big decision, a major change, or a moment of fear, remember: you don’t go first. God does. He’s already in the water. And His presence makes the crossing possible.
What “flooded river” stands before you right now — and what would it look like to trust that God goes ahead of you?
Faithful God, lead me across whatever lies ahead. I place my feet in your promises, and trust that your presence will make a way.
