Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favour in the eyes of the prison warden.
Joseph had dreamed of greatness — a calling from God, confirmed by vision. But instead of rising quickly to that promise, he was betrayed, falsely accused, and imprisoned.
Threshold moments can feel like confinement. We know we’ve been called, but our circumstances seem to say otherwise. The walls feel tight. The future feels suspended.
But the Lord was with him. That’s the key. Joseph didn’t need to understand the timeline — he only needed to stay faithful. Even in prison, he served. He interpreted dreams. He waited.
God is often doing His deepest shaping in the waiting places. In the quiet cell of trust, character is formed and faith is deepened.
And in the right time — God’s time — Joseph was lifted up. But it was not just for his own sake. It was to bless others.
Are you in a place that feels confining or unclear — and how might you remain faithful there?
God, even when my life feels on hold, remind me that you are near. Help me trust your timing and grow in the quiet places of waiting.
