“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Hurt is not sin. Even Jesus experienced rejection, betrayal and grief. The danger begins when our hurt is allowed to choose our direction.
An untreated wound can quietly become the lens through which we see everything. We begin expecting rejection, questioning people’s motives and protecting ourselves from being hurt again. What began as pain can slowly become isolation, suspicion or resentment.
God does not shame us for being wounded. He comes close to the brokenhearted. But His desire is not merely to comfort us in our pain; He wants to heal us so that pain no longer controls us.
The narrow way begins with honesty: “Lord, this hurt me.” Healing starts when we bring the wound into the presence of the One who loves us completely.
What hurt might still be influencing the way I respond to people today?
Jesus, You know every wound I carry. Help me bring my pain honestly before You. Heal what has been broken and prevent my hurt from determining the direction of my life. Amen.
