Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles…
God is not distant in grief, He is the God of all comfort. He draws near with compassion, entering our sorrow and lifting us with His presence. His comfort does not remove the ache but surrounds it with peace.
This comfort is also meant to overflow. As God comforts us, we become able to comfort others. Grief shared becomes grief lightened, and hope multiplies as we pass on the consolation we ourselves have received.
Where do you most need to receive God’s comfort today, and where might He be calling you to share it with others?
God of compassion, hold me in your comfort. Heal my sorrow with your presence, and help me bring your comfort to others in their grief.
