Surely Goodness and Love

Scripture reading:
Psalm 23:6a

Surely your goodness and love will follow me…

Devotional

David ends not with uncertainty but with assurance: surely. He is convinced of God’s faithful care. What follows him is not trouble or fear but God’s goodness and love. These are not occasional companions—they pursue him all his days.

The Hebrew word translated follow carries the sense of being pursued or chased. God’s goodness and love are not passive; they actively seek us out. Even when we wander, His mercy runs after us. His covenant love will not let us go.

This is the confidence of faith. Life may bring hardship, but God’s goodness is always present. We may face valleys, enemies, and trials, but His love is relentless. It is not just at the beginning or the end of our journey, but with us every day until we reach home.

Question to consider

How might your outlook change if you lived each day convinced that God’s goodness and love are pursuing you?

Prayer

Lord, thank you that your goodness and love follow me always. Help me to see them even in hard times, and to trust your relentless care.
