He Restores My Soul

Silence and stillness before God (2 minutes)
Scripture reading
Scripture reading:
Psalm 23:3a

He restores my soul…

Devotional

The Shepherd not only provides food and water, He restores. Sheep wander, stumble, and collapse under exhaustion. A shepherd lifts them, sets them back on their feet, and leads them again. David knew this reality well. Spiritually, emotionally, physically, God restores.

This restoration is more than comfort; it is renewal. To have our souls restored is to be brought back to life when we are weary, discouraged, or broken. The Shepherd meets us in our weakness and revives us with His grace.

For David, restoration also meant forgiveness. After failure, God restored him. After despair, God lifted him up. This points us to Christ, who restores our souls not only by renewing strength but by reconciling us to God. Through the cross, He restores what sin has broken.

The Christian life is not about never falling; it is about being restored by the Shepherd’s mercy again and again. Each time we are lifted, we discover His grace is greater than our failure.

Question to consider

Where do you most long for God’s restoring work in your life today?

Prayer

Restoring God, thank you that you lift me when I fall. Heal my weary soul, forgive my failures, and renew my strength by your grace.

Conclude with silence (2 minutes)
